STCW 95
Welcome to the Western Training Association STCW 95 information page.
STCW 95 is an International Maritime Organisation standard throughout the world that defines the details of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping.
STCW 95 safety courses are a basic requirement for those wishing to pursue a career at sea (not commercial fishing vessels over 24 metres in length). STCW-F will apply when this comes into force in the future) and they can be purchased individually or as a suite. You will however in the vast majority of cases require to hold all the necessary basic certification before being considered suitable to work at sea.
The convention does not apply to seafarers working onboard pleasure yachts (not including Superyachts not engaged in trade).
When you see the STCW 95 course acronym against our training courses you can be assured that these courses meet the specifications of this standard and indeed in most cases our courses surpass this standard. All of our STCW’95 courses are monitored and assessed on behalf of the IMO agreement by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency who award us the STCW 95 accreditation.
Our STCW 95 basic suite can be completed in one week at our training locations in Plymouth, All of them are issued with an STCW 95 certificate in their own right. We don't hide our prices, our training centre is easily accessible and with free parking. All of our courses are protected by a refund policy which you can access here - Refund Policy.
